A new series of indexable inserts from AG employ a proprietary microstructure design that improves efficiency and performance. The Tiger-tec Silver series of inserts are designed for hard metals like steel and cast iron, as they have been constructed with durable structures enhanced to resist cutting stresses. The inserts are coated with an aluminum-oxide treatment that improves the micro-structure and then treated by mechanical processes to counteract the types of stresses normally encountered during standard cutting procedures. Walter claims these enhanced microstructures help improve performance by as much as 75 percent.
